Antique Oak Furniture
Antique oak furniture is mostly originating from 16th century when the trends consisted were of mostly simple design furniture with peg joints. This type of furniture had another main characteristic, i.e. details and exquisite hand made carvings, mostly representing grotesque and scary figures.
Among the most popular antique oak furniture of those days were oak chests where linen were stored, drawers chests and large four poster beds. In the beginning of the 17th Century a new patterns of antique oak furniture was manufactured, which had veneer on them. The new style of decorating the antique oak furniture had thin strips of wood colored vividly and pasted on the face of the furniture to create an attractive pattern. The new trend was very obvious with certain types of antique oak furniture such as chairs which in the beginning of the 17th Century were transformed from basic utility to ornate decorative pieces.
